ENGLISH:
Here's another jewel lost in time unearthed by Garden Of Delights and also released for the first time in CD very recently. Sunbirds, besides being a superband formed by renowned musicians from diverse nationalities, was one of the many studio projects led by German drummer Klaus Weiss. Having released two albums, this one in question - the first - brought in: Austrian keyboardist Fritz Pauer, who had already founded his own trio and was member of ORF (Österreichischer Rundfunk, or Austrian broadcasting company) Big Band; the Dutch windplayer Ferdinand Povel, who had toured with Dusko Goyovich's Summit Quartet; the Anglo-Belgian guitarrist Philip Catherine, which is currently credited in dozens of albums; the US bassist Jimmy Woode, who had played with big jazz names, such as Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, and Sarah Vaughan, besides also being an ORF Big Band member; and Venezuelan percussionist Juan Moreno, who was featured in other Weiss' projects.

On this album, Sunbirds deliver an entirely intrusmental and very smooth and atmospheric jazz-fusion with influences of progressive rock, which in some moments may remind you of Soft Machine or Xhol. Appearantly the biggest influence for all the compositions was the sun, beggining from the band's name, the cover artwork and the names of some songs. However, in other words, it is a masterpiece whose value has significantly increased also for its rarity.

    1. Hey Dan.
For instance, this Sunbirds album made me feel like writing about the BASF label and that's what I worked on the whole day. I also included its legendary sublabel Pilz as well as the prestigious MPS Records on the same article.
Just let me arrange some images and it'll be posted very soon. ;-)
