James Gang - BANG - 1973 [FLAC]

Personnel

PORTUGUES:

ENGLISH:

Great album featuring some classic Bolin licks and trademark guitar work. The whole band gels together and it takes you back to a time when music was very organic. Also very nostalgic and in some ways very sad especially being a Bolin fan as all that wonderful songwriting potential will in a few short years be ruined by drug abuse.
Difficult to have a favourite track as everything on the album contributes to the overall listen but personally love 'Alexis' showcasing Bolin's master work both on guitar and vocals. See video below.

  2. Bang was the first record the James Gang recorded with Tommy Bolin, a former member of Zephyr. While the songs were still fairly undistinguished, Bolin's playing was imaginative and captivating,Tommy joined the James Gang in August, 1973 as a replacement for Joe Walsh.
'Bang' stands as one of the strongest rock statements of the period. Not only are the arrangements and performances crisp and catchy, but Tommy also laid down guitar that was on par with his performances on Spectrum. To many people this album contains the quintessential essence of Tommy’s guitar tone and fire. The guitar solo in “From Another Time” is a textbook example of his ability to play with grace, fire and precision even at fast tempos. The notes still raise your hair even if the track is played at half speed.
Excellent Tommy Bolin's debut with the band. As usual in James Gang's history, the new comer walks in with the song credits, but this time, the quality of the songs is outstanding, the best since Joe Walsh left. No wonder he recommended Bolin.
Great guitarist, who, unfortunately, in 1976, died of an overdose when he was only 25 years old.
I encourage be acquainted with history Tommy Bolin
