Adamus67 part

The Veterans, commencement teamed up last year  to release the song ‘Out of My Mind’ (along with ‘Holy Water’) to raise funds for rebuilding a music school in Armenia, marking their first collaboration since Gillan’s participation with Black Sabbath on the 1984 disc ‘Born Again.’ The two musicians have visited Armenia several times over the years and have seen the slow renewal after a major earthquake that decimated the country in 1988. After having such a great time together working on last year’s benefit track, the longtime friends decided to forge ahead with a full record with the goal remaining to aid rebuilding efforts in Armenia.

"Ian Gillan, Tony Iommi and Friends". Pillars of two famous groups - Deep Purple and Black Sabbath - in one formation? Yes. But only for a single. And it's very occasional single, whose origin dates back to two decades ago. Specifically, the earthquake that struck Armenia in December 1988. Gillan and Iommi have spent a lot of time in this country, trying to bring aid to the victims of the tragedy. For humanitarian action in which they participated were marked several Medals of Honor years ago by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Tigran Sergsjana, they recorded two songs that appear on the single, with the proceeds from the sale will go fund rebuilding a music school in Gyumri in Armenia. Anyway, Gillan and Iommi gentlemen invited to record a track with two Armenian musicians playing a musical instrument called the duduk, which undoubtedly gave the theme of "Holy Water" warm, slightly oriental flavor. The single, in addition to the two recordings - "Out Of My Mind" and "Holy Water" - is still a 40-minute documentary showing the involvement of both of our heroes, action to of aid bringing Armenia.

The recordings took part Gillan and Friends Iommiego. This group includes such well-known names such as Jon Lord, Jason Newsted, Linde Lindström and Nicko McBrain (full line-ups is given below).

You could say that it is a true supergroup. I wonder if to be continued? Rumor has it that the continuation of fundraising for the music school soon for the next single to be released new version of "Smoke On The Water" ...
It was one of the most welcome surprises of 2011, and now comes word that the collaborative effort WhoCares featuring Black Sabbath‘s Tony Iommi and Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan will be more than just a one-off charity single project.

The full-length WhoCares album, released  on June 22. 2012'  via Ear Music.

WhoCares, a 2-CD retrospective culled from the careers of Tony Iommi and Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan. Included in the set will be rarities and never-before-released material, along with two charity singles Iommi and Gillan recorded in 2011.
The exceptional collection of rarities. Unpublished, forgotten, or newly mixed recording masters Gillan'a Ian and Tony Iommi'ego,  in different configurations, notable tracks include an unreleased studio jam by Deep Purple, a song from Gillan’s sideband, Repo Depo, which never released an official song prior to this set, and “Zero the Hero,” from Born Again, the only Black Sabbath album to feature Gillan on lead vocals. to realize this objective, the two musicians have plundered our treasure chest of their previous work and fished many pearls that fans can buy now collected on "Who Cares". The oriental-inspired, very soft Gillan's duet with the Greek singer Michalis Rakintzis, released in 1992 on an EP, a live version of "Smoke On The Water" with Ronnie James DIO as a guest. Also available on the double CD of rare tracks DEEP PURPLE, like this the unreleased song "Dimple Mind", as well as some demo songs and B-sides from Gillan's solo time. Two unreleased songs by Iommi, featuring Glenn Hughes, are included as well.
Gillan says, ‘As I said once in the song ‘Razzle Dazzle’…it’s a real fine line between an orgy of destruction and a wonderful time.’ The destruction of conformity in this case – some of these pieces never really fitted into the contemporary program and got sidelined or forgotten, and some of the album tracks never had much exposure. As the track listing for this album came together, I noticed many of the titles had character similarities, a combination of freshness as they fully felt the sun on their backs and rebellion in a ‘yeah, told you so,’ kind of way. And that adds up to a wonderful time. And that adds up to more money for the music school we are building in Armenia.”
