Heavy Jelly - Take Me Down To The Water (1969, UK, Bluesrock, Psycho vinyl rip, single flac + cue, log, DR, artwork)

*** Reviewed by great fellow Adamus67 ***

HEAVY JELLY, a British group. Founded in early 1969 in London, at the initiative of John Moorsheada, a guitarist known for the formation of Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation. The core set with the bassist Alex Dmochowski (born Alexander Zygmunt Stanislaw Dmochowski), also of Retaliation. A composition completed drummer Carlo Little (b. Little Carl O'Neill, 12.17.1938, Sudbury, Wembley, Middlesex -6.08.2005, Jarrow, South Tyneside), derived including Screaming Lord Sutch with And The Savages and The Flowerpot Men.

A little later, have established cooperation with the formation of Jim Capaldi (24/08/1944, Evesham, Worcestershire), as a singer, and perhaps also a drummer (in place of Carlo Little), and Chris Wood (born Christopher Gordon Blandford Wood, 6/24/1944, Birmingham - 12/07/1983, Birmingham), as saxophonist and flutist, both of Traffic. At the end determined the composition of which besides Moorsheada and Dmochowski included: Jackie Lomax (5/10/1944, Wallasey, Merseyside)-voc, g, known from The Undertakers and Lomax Alliance and his own solo recordings for the Apple, and Barry Jenkins (born Bruce Jenkins, 12/22/1944, Leicester) - dr, perc, voc, known from The Nashwille Teens and The Animals.
In summer 1970, after further modifications, Heavy Jelly created: Moorshead, Lomax, Steve Thompson - Bruce Rowland bi-Dr. Formation broke at the end of this year, as Lomax went to the U.S. and after signing with Warner Brothers resumed his solo career.
The group was associated with a small company Head (her boss John Curd registered the name Heavy Jelly). And in May 1969, even as a trio of Carlo Little in the composition, earned a single Time Out Chewn In / The Long Wait of thrilling, bluesrockowym instrumental repertoire in the style of Cream. At the end of this year or early next, already with Lomax and Jenkins, as well as several additional musicians, Mike Kellie - dr, the sustenance of Spooky Tooth, Bobby Keys - ts and Jim Price's - tp, tb, The Rolling Stones co-workers, and Pete Ham - voc and Tom Evans - voc, members of Badfinger, recorded an album, originally titled "Heavy Jelly", but the edition of this work was stopped only produced its promotional items. The official release came many years later, in 1984, thanks to the company Psycho, the title was changed to "Take Me Down To The Water". Lomax was the creator of the repertoire, and he imposed the formation of their own concepts. The resulting whole is not as intriguing as the single a few months, but full of neat music I grew up, among others of blues and soul, for example, You Better Let Me Know, For Something Bom, Bio-Blues, If You'd Like To.
Moorshead after the dissolution of Heavy Jelly collaborated with Graham Bond and Denny Laine'em. Dmochowski played such Bond, Peter Green and Frank Zappa. Carlo Little has appeared in such combinations as the Hurricane, Flying Fox and the Florida Sun, but above all he was a wholesaler of bread. In 2005, he died of cancer. Lomax not only continued his soloist, but also appeared in Badger. Capaldi and Wood returned to Traffic. Thompson began working with Spooky Tooth. Rowland remembered as a musician, The Grease Band and Fairport Convention.

Thank you so much Adam for that effort

Heavy Jelly started off under a number of guises and group members in the early 60's in Newcastle (UK). They were part of the Britpop/psychedelic scene without any great commercial success. A number of name (The Unknowns, The Crestas, The Clique and The Chosen Few among others) and personnel changes eventually led the the formation of Skip Bifferty in 1966. Mickey Gallagher(keyboard), Colin Gibson(bass), John Turnbull(guitar, vocals), Graham Bell(vocalist), Tommy Jackman(drummer) were the founding members. The name Skip Bifferty was taken after a cartoon character that Colin Gibson had created while at school. After a couple of years of relatively poor commercial success Skip Bifferty broke up, but not before they recorded "I Keep Singing that Same Old Song" under the name Heavy Jelly with Paul Nicholls now on drums. The track was released in 1969 as a single without success in the UK, but apparently performed well in parts of Europe. Heavy Jelly did not release any other tracks other than the backing track, Blue User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License and may also be available under the GNU FDL.
