Após o fim do Ash Ra Tempel, uma das bandas pioneiras em música eletrônica da Alemanha, Manuel Göttsching, que ajudou a fundar essa banda, partiu para uma carreira solo intitulando seu projeto de Ashra, como se fosse a sua própria continuação do Ash Ra Tempel original.

O New Age Of Earth foi o seu primeiro álbum e foi inteiramente produzido pelo próprio Göttsching. Além de remeter à música da Escola de Berlim, este álbum também possui elementos que remetem ao New Age, estilo musical em ascenção no fim dos anos 70.

After the end of Ash Ra Tempel, one of the German pioneer electronic music bands, Manuel Göttsching, who was one of the cofounders, decided to pursue a solo carrer afterwards naming his own project Ashra, as though it was his own continuation of the original Ash Ra Tempel.

New Age Of Earth was his solo debut album and was entirely produced by Göttsching himself. Besides incorporating elements of Berlim School, this album may also remind you some of New Age, musical genre which had been becoming popular in the fall of the 70s.
