Budka Suflera - "Shadow of the great mountain "(1975) - Polish Prog Rock-FLAC - By Adamus67

is one of the best albums of Polish rock music. As often happens in the case of IPOs: fresh, full of energy, ideas and bravado. Effectively combining hard rock and progressive rock. From the bow toward the Great. I all the more painful this loss that so hard to reach this position.
It starts from - except the well-known to everyone - the title track. Composition, which in its own way drew a style booths for this and the next disc. Happy (once) were played on the radio. Majestic, unhurried pace. Moody, elegiac introduction charmingly dobarwiony Alibabek singing. Adding electric guitar input expression and singing Cugowskiego, resembling the early Joe Cocker vocal madness. And attractive, derived from the second part beatlesowskiego "Hey Jude" finale ... She picked up, majestic, splendid composition.
And then is far worse. "I like this old picture" is a two-part work: the calmer the beginning and the living, development of hard rock. With an impressive batch of electric guitar. The electric organs szwungu dodającymi Mark Stefankiewicza. I still go ahead, do not have time to fatigue. Nick sword, but to have a clean conscience. This is a better world, which in its part continues ... For this discrete borrowings from the "schizophrenic" Crimsonów and "Into the Fire 'Deep Purple. This course supports the hard rock concise and short "Lonely Night": specific, catchy sounding, again with a stylish interplay of guitar and organ.
"It is such a lonely house" ... I think again: everyone has heard. Specific minisuita, a little rock theater. History, as the romantic ballads: lonely wanderer, night, storm, deserted house that suddenly in the middle of the night is filled with phantoms ... The majestic song changes tempo and mood. With an impressive climax. I absolutely fabulous piece, when suddenly in the middle of the composition Alibabki sing: a day comes after night ... I shiver at the cross. Five minutes of climate and strangeness, of which one thousand ready today can only dream of itself.
Party B is a compact composition. Summative like what has happened in the first twenty minutes. Because, and there are a lot of lofty mood. Again, nicely complement Cugowskiego Alibabki ("Carnival of the gate of lions"). And moments of vivid, rock music. I jamowego slack moments. I improvisations Czesław Niemen (and Stefankiewicza - Niemen was unceremoniously ejected from the studio of prof. Stefanski - recorded at the Warsaw Academy of Music - before the completion of his party) on the Moog synthesizer, strikingly pretty strict inkrustujące team still playing (though Hammond organ Stefankiewicz also reportedly borrowed from the Niemen ). And "the long trips," a surprisingly typical, just - the finale of a pretty song ... I quite vague text, apparently by drug trials and tribulations.
There were moments when our band really does not yield to what has happened in rock playing in the West, drawing on the impressive achievements - even then - the venerable classics of the genre. Niemen Group and its related SBB, or of a different drum - Clan and Marek Grechuta, the same pressure as the best examples. Pantheon of Polish rock 70s supplements was indisputably the "shadow of great mountains", perfectly complementing the gap between avant-garde follies Niemen and SBB, poetic and psychedelic jazzrockiem Grechuta.

  4. About this CD has everything Adam wrote in a note to the post. A great album, one of the best and perhaps the best of Eastern Europe recorded during the 70s. In retrospect I can say that this is a classic of heavy progressive music. Well done Adam, many thanks for this post, I hope that is just the beginning of your publication on this blog!

  5. Adamus recommends this, I'm going to check this out! Besides, the characterization of this as a successful combination of progressive and hard rock attracts my interest.

  6. WOW! AS of the first three tracks listened to so far...Beautiful melodic progressive rock very much, to my ears, in the Italian mold -- practically sounds like a long lost PFM album! Plus, Biglietto. Yay!!!!!

  8. ok, well, maybe not a lost PFM, not quite that level of sprawling extravagance, but I still say, very much of the early-mid 70s Italian mold. I like it so much I ordered the CD before I was finished listening to the FLAC!
