Depois de tantos krauts, hoje eu trouxe um clássico de Canterbury, uma obra-prima produzida por um dos maiores exponentes do jazz-fusion. Hoje eu finalmente eu trouxe um álbum de estúdio deles, depois de tantos ao vivo. Como o próprio título já sugere, este foi o terceiro álbum produzido pela banda e, um pouco antes do Yes conceber o Tales From Topographic Oceans, eis aqui alguém que teve a idéia de lançar um vinil duplo com cada faixa ocupando inteiramente os lados de cada vinil. A música é puro orgasmo sonoro, cheia de improvisos e arranjos complicados.

A capa também é um dos grandes atrativos do álbum, cujo design é de uma beleza elegante, discreta e que sugere a idéia de algo sofisticado, enquanto que a maioria das bandas da época - até mesmo do mesmo gênero - preferiam apostar em capas cheias de ilustrações coloridas e altamente psicodélicas.

O único problema desse grande álbum fica por conta da qualidade sonora, longe de ser apropriada para um álbum oficial e resultado de várias 'colagens' que a banda fez em sua produção, misturando gravações feitas com equipamentos caseiros e poupando cuidado na hora das edições.

Hello freaks,

After so many krauties, today I brought a classic from Canterbury, a masterpiece produced by one of the greatest jazz-fusion exponents. I've finally managed to bring one of their studio albums, after posting so many live ones. As the own title suggests, this was Soft Machine's third album, and a little before Yes conceived Tales From Topographic Oceans, here's somebody else who had the same idea of releasing a double record set with each track lasting each vinyl side. The music is pure sound orgams, full of improvisations and complex arranjements.

The sleeve is also one of the highest attractive points of this album, of which package design shows an elegant and discreet beauty and that suggests the idea of something sophisticated, whilst most of the period bands - even from the same genre - prefered to bet on sleevs full of colourful and highly psychedelic illustrations.

The only problem of this great album remains on the sound quality, far from being adequate for an official release and resulted from 'sound collages' made by the own band during its production, mixing with home-made recordings and lacking in careness on the mastering.

But then nobody is perfect! So start downloading it right away!
