Eight songs that are the best of the band!
Since 1996 these songs have been reissued several times in CD format, but the sound has been pumped as usual to stoned the listeners and I stay away from it, as I stay away from all that the masters of the world, that I don't know who they are , they want us to believe that it is the best for us!
Enjoy!

Before the covid bullshit hit I saw Radio Birdman and The Stems @ The Croxton hotel in Northcote, Melbourne. What a show rawkin' dog!! I thought I had all the Stem's releases but apparently not cause I don't have this, thanks mate!
ResponderExcluirAre you Australian? What a marvel of concerts that must have been!
ExcluirMany thanks, great band The Stems!!!
ResponderExcluirAustralian "power pop" is the best for me, I really love SUnnyboys and the first 3 Hoodoo Gurus albums!
ExcluirYou are of course right about Sunnyboys & H. Gurus. But there is also a lot of other exc. music from Aussie. But where to start with the list ? Just a few Aussie bands:
ExcluirTactics, The Originals Sins, Belles Will Wring, The Saints, The Blackeyed Susans, You Am I, The Celebate Rifles, The Early Hours, Beasts of Bourbon, Died Pretty, The End, The Someloves, Kryptonics, The Garden Path, The Visitors, The Chevelles, The Thought Criminals, Sacred Cowboys, La Sect Rouge, Exploding White Mice, New Race, The Sunset Strip, Challengers, The Mad Turks, Screaming Believers, Tyrnaround, The Pony.......
Maybe you didn't read carefully, I was talking about "power pop" bands, a genre that usually I don't like very much. As far as the Australian sound of the eighties is concerned, especially the second half, it has practically no rivals in the world in that period, with few exceptions and if you see on the blog I have posted several and will post others. Cheers!
ExcluirMaybe there is a missunderstanding ? But i read that you like Sunnyboys and Hoodoo Gurus. I didn't specifically mention power pop. Although their are wonderful things both in Aussie and around the world. But that a matter of taste. Most of the bands i have listened here are of all possible genres and most of them maybe 1-2 you don't have on your blog as far as i know.
ExcluirOK! The next album dedicated to the Australian sound will be The Sunset Strip's first.
ExcluirI have the first 2. GREAT !
ExcluirYou're right! The second one is also very nice!
ExcluirI'm glad The Quicksilver Messenger Service got the attention it deserved on your blog and you're included the best of them. Maybe with the missing Shady Grove. Quicksilver is probably my favorite band next Jefferson Airplane.
ExcluirAlso for QMS and Airplane they are among the best, I like all the albums of the first ones. I will also be uploading Shady Grove soon. Did you download the live?
ExcluirI have everything original from Quicksilver and maybe 40 cds sbd live. J. Airplane same. Was in California in the early 70s. I grew up with the whole music scene almost from the beginning ( i bought the first lps in 1968).
ExcluirI have them all too, but the only original one is the Psycho live ... I bought my first LP in 1973, when I was 12 years old.
ExcluirI bought the Psycho Record it when the lp came out, i think in the early 80s. A Gary Duncan tape. During the recording, the guy made it so that Cipollina is in the background and the final impressing is that he is playing the first guitar. The only downside of a fine concert. 1968 Quicksilver at peak.
ExcluirYes I am sir.
ResponderExcluirI'm italian
ExcluirMany thanks rawkin' dog. I know what you mean about modern mastering. Any chance of At First Sight Violets Are Blue at some stage?
ResponderExcluirCertainly amacoz! The 1987 CD sounds a bit limited, while the 2003 double CD has disc 1 the same as 1987, disc 2, the 14 bonuses sound like crap ... Mystery!
